How mentor coaching works
Mentor coaching is an opportunity to deepen your coaching knowledge and skills. Our sessions will focus on coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on a recorded coaching session.
The ICF defines Mentor Coaching as providing professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency demanded by the desired credential level sought by a coach‐applicant (mentee). Furthermore, Mentor Coaching means a mentee being coached on their coaching skills rather than coaching on practice building, life balance, or other topics unrelated to the development of a mentee’s coaching skill. Mentor Coaching takes place over an extended time (three-month minimum) in a cycle that allows for listening and feedback from the Mentor Coach while also allowing reflection and practice on the part of the individual being mentored.
Since mentor coaching is focused on improving your practice, for each session, you’ll send part of a recording of one of your coaching sessions (~15 mins). We’ll listen together and discuss what went well, what you might have done differently, and the impact on your client. Each session we will look at a different ICF core competency and discuss how your coaching aligns with the competency.
